Emerging scholars and practitioners at EcoHealth 2014

The EcoHealth 2014 conference was an exciting opportunity for ESaPs from different regions to congregate to share their experiences and build a global community. They coordinated together to include the ESaP perspective in the final programme (see below).

Program

  • ESaP Orientation and Urban Food Visit: Tuesday, August 11 at 7 pm
an opportunity for ESaPs to meet and get to know one another, make and explore connections with people from around the globe, as well as enjoy the local food of Montreal.
  • ESaP Special Session: Exploring Knowledge-to-Action from an ESaP Perspective (August, 14 • 10:20am - 11:50am)
Presented by a group of alumni from the Canadian Community of Practice in EcoHealth (CoPEH-Canada), this special session examined the commitment to knowledge-to-action as a central tenet of ecosystem approaches to health but a frequently difficult goal to achieve. In this session, presenters suggested how ESaPs can offer unique insights into this problem through the use of case studies and a panel that convened ESaPs facing these exact challenges.
  • ESaP Plenary Panel: Thursday, August 14, from 5pm to 6:30pm
This Plenary Panel put into conversation ESaPs from different world regions: North America, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and West Africa. Attendees heard about the work of ESaPs from around the world, the challenges and opportunities they face locally, as well as what it means to be part of a global community of ESaPs.
